EU – Strategic Vision
In July 2016, the EU adopted A Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign and Security Policy (EUGS), as a result of a vast consultation of stakeholders across EU member States, including of national parliaments.
The EU Global Strategy stems from the need for a more realistic assessment of the complexity of the global arena as well as from an idealistic aspiration to advance a better world. In other words, EUGS is based on the idea that principled pragmatism should guide the EU external action in the years ahead.
After exploring the implementation process of this strategy as illustrated by Nathalie Tocci, Deputy Director of the IAI and Special Advisor to the HRVP Federica Mogherini, and penholder of the EU Global Strategy, the workshop created a room for dialogue, exchange of information and awareness raising.
