On 2-3 May 2019, 18 Members of Parliament from 12 different EU member states came together in Barcelona to discuss fact-checking, disinformation and fake news in the context of the upcoming European elections and beyond.

The latest edition of Carnegie Strategic Europe’s Judy Asks column, featuring members of the Mercator European Dialogue Network, was inspired by the 6th Mercator European Dialogue on the theme “Europe: Is the System Broken?”, in Rome on February 1–3, 2019.

On the weekend of 1-3 February 2019, 61 Members of Parliament from 22 different EU member states came together in Rome to listen, discuss and collect a variety of national perspectives on the state of and challenges to the current political system and the EU, addressing the question “Europe: Is the system broken?”

To recommence the Brexit talks after the summer, the DCU Brexit Institute in Dublin partnered up with the MED to organise a panel debate on the possibility of a no-deal Brexit.

At the European Forum Alpbach, members of the MP Steering Committee discussed the role of the MED for the work of parliamentarians and reflected on future goals and opportunities.

During the annual European Forum Alpbach, MPs from the Mercator European Dialogue (MED) network gathered to discuss the current state and future of European democracy, particularly addressing the role of participatory politics. 

On 10 July 2018, Open European Dialogue network members from 10 EU and non-EU states met during the NATO Summit in Brussels to discuss the security challenges facing Europe today.

In April 2018, Members of Parliament from different parties in France, the United Kingdom and Germany joined efforts in a joint parliamentary letter to Congress asking to support the Iran deal. Members of the Mercator European Dialogue (MED) network from all three countries decided to take part, with some of them giving us an exclusive comment on the importance of the deal and this interparliamentary action.

On the weekend of 2-4 March 2018, 40 Members of National Parliaments from 15 different EU member states gathered in Paris to discuss, reflect and share views, perspectives, uncertainties, and visions on the topic of “the future of EU prosperity and the modernization challenge”. 

Two of the network´s MPs, Joost Taverne, Member of the Dutch Parliament and Paolo Guerrieri, Member of the Italian Senate were invited by the Berlin Policy Journal to discuss views on European solidarity.
